About the Organisation

Europex is a Brussels-based, not-for-profit association with 37 members, representing European energy exchanges and delegated operators. We advocate for the interests of exchange-based wholesale electricity, gas, and environmental markets. Europex plays a key role in shaping the European regulatory framework for wholesale energy trading and serves as a platform for European-level discussions.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Communications Adviser to support Europex’s internal and external communications, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement activities. In this role, you will help to shape and deliver Europex’s communications strategy, strengthen the association’s visibility and positioning, and ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across all channels and formats. We are looking for a strong communicator with a strategic mindset, excellent writing and copy-editing skills, an anticipatory, hands-on approach, and a solid understanding of EU energy, climate, and financial services policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement communication strategies and campaigns in line with the association’s advocacy goals and policy priorities.
  • Edit and manage high-quality content, including press releases, newsletters, policy briefings, social media posts, website posts, event materials, stakeholder communications, and other relevant materials.
  • Translate complex regulatory and market topics into clear, accessible, and engaging messaging for target audiences.
  • Manage and coordinate media and press relations, including drafting press materials, responding to inquiries, and supporting media outreach around events and publications.
  • Support the organisation and communication of public events and campaigns, including conferences, webinars, stakeholder briefings, and external speaking engagements.
  • Liaise with members to gather input, shape messaging, and align communications with Europex’s overall policy and advocacy agenda.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • At least five years of professional experience in strategic communications, public relations, and political communication.
  • Deep understanding of the EU institutions and their legislative processes, ideally in an energy, climate, and financial services policy context.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and oral; additional EU languages are an advantage.
  • Strong digital communications expertise, including the use of CRM, CMS, graphic design tools, and social media management platforms.
  • Proven experience in media relations and press coordination, including drafting press materials and liaising with policy-focused or institutional audiences.
  • Engage in cross-functional or multi-stakeholder initiatives while ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Comfortable managing multiple content streams and deadlines independently, with strong attention to detail and editorial consistency.
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with technical experts, member companies, and senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard office software and IT tools, including website management, to support impactful work.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in communications, journalism, public affairs, EU studies, energy, climate or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits

  • A dynamic role in a respected European association with real impact on energy, climate, and financial services policy, and the opportunity to grow over time.
  •  A competitive remuneration package based on qualifications and experience.
  • A full-time contract within a highly dynamic, mission-driven Secretariat where your contributions are visible, valued, and make a real difference.
  • Thrive in an intellectually stimulating environment with significant autonomy, responsibility, and the chance to engage with senior policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders.
