The OurWhisky Foundation has unveiled a new global online platform and app to connect whisky professionals, foster collaboration, and support women in the whisky industry through networking, exclusive content, and career development opportunities.

The OurWhisky Foundation has unveiled a new initiative aimed at fostering connections among professionals in the whisky industry, particularly those advocating for greater inclusion of women in the sector. The launch of the OurWhisky Foundation Community marks a significant step in creating a digital platform and app intended to unite industry members from around the globe.

This comprehensive online community is designed to encourage collaboration and personal development through a range of features. Members can engage in 1-2-1 messaging, access courses, partake in exclusive content and events, as well as explore open chat functions and curated discussion boards. This multifaceted approach allows for a networking environment conducive to sharing knowledge and experiences.

The platform is geared towards supporting women in whisky, acknowledging the unique challenges they often face in the industry. Members are provided with various tools and settings that promote personal and professional growth. Among the benefits touted by the foundation are opportunities for members to connect with others who share a passion for whisky, receive personalised insights from industry experts, discover job opportunities through a dedicated jobs board, and take part in exclusive regional events.

Becky Paskin, Founder of the OurWhisky Foundation, commented on the launch, stating, “The OurWhisky Foundation Community has been a long-term ambition of ours, so we’re proud to finally reveal our new, smart and intuitive platform. Great things happen when people unite in pursuit of common goals, so we’re excited to see how whisky professionals use the Community to collaborate, create and connect across the world, contributing to a more inclusive, welcoming and thriving industry.” Her sentiments reflect a commitment to enhance the whisky industry through improved connectivity and collaboration.

Marissa Johnston, the Executive Director of the OurWhisky Foundation, also expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. She stated, “I am thrilled to announce the launch of the OurWhisky Foundation Community, a pioneering platform designed to connect whisky professionals while championing our mission to recognise, support and empower women working in whisky around the world.” Johnston highlighted the platform's potential to address the unique challenges faced by women in the sector, paving the way for enhanced collaboration and a celebration of diversity within the whisky community.

Industry professionals, such as Gillian Macdonald, Master Blender and Head of Whisky Creation at The Glenmorangie Company, have also voiced their support for the initiative. Macdonald remarked, “Having the OurWhisky Foundation Community available within the whisky industry is such a great resource for connecting with people, finding out direct and true information as well as job opportunities.” She emphasised the value of the community as a space for knowledgeable individuals to share insights and benefit from active participation.

Founded in 2022 by drinks journalist Becky Paskin, the OurWhisky Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting inclusion and diversity in the whisky sector. By working closely with the global drinks industry, the foundation aims to provide consultancy services, survey data, reports, and organize events that inspire change and foster a more inclusive atmosphere.

As the whisky industry continues to evolve, the OurWhisky Foundation Community represents a significant development in how industry professionals can engage with one another. By placing a strong emphasis on collaboration and support, the initiative is poised to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing conversation about gender equality and inclusivity in the spirits sector. This platform not only enhances professional networking opportunities but also reinforces the commitment of the OurWhisky Foundation to empower women and promote diversity within the whisky industry on a global scale.
