British Pest Control Association Launches WhatsApp Noticeboard for Members
British Pest Control Association (BPCA) has introduced a new member communications channel, BPCA Insider — a dedicated WhatsApp noticeboard designed to give member companies and volunteers concise, direct updates from the association between regular emails and social media posts.
BPCA Insider is structured as a one-way announcement channel, meaning there are no open group discussions or reply threads. Access is restricted to BPCA member company main contacts, authorised contacts with the appropriate permission, and approved volunteers and committee members. The channel is not available to non-members.
The idea originated from the BPCA's Outreach and Communications Committee, which identified email volume and the fast-moving pace of social media as barriers to ensuring members receive timely, relevant information. BPCA Insider is positioned as a complement to existing channels rather than a replacement.
Updates will be shared approximately every fortnight and will focus on short, practical information. Members can expect brief update posts, behind-the-scenes content from the BPCA team, occasional lightning polls to gather member feedback, and priority access to important association and industry news ahead of wider release. Posts will be written by a member of the BPCA team rather than automated, and the channel will not be used to promote training courses or events.
Scott Johnstone, BPCA Communications Manager, said: "This new noticeboard is a straightforward step towards making it easier for members to stay informed — without spamming your inbox."
