Trakia University honoured for advancing pharmacy technician education in Bulgaria
The University of Thrace received an honorary badge from the Sixth National Conference of the Bulgarian Association of Pharmacists’ Assistants, held in the picturesque town of Tryavna. This award was presented for the university’s significant contribution to the training of pharmacist assistants in Bulgaria and for the sustainable cooperation with the association. There is a growing need for qualified specialists in the field of pharmacy, which increases the importance of education in this field.
The two-day forum, organized under the motto “Conventional unity and support for decent work of pharmacist assistants in Bulgaria”, brought together experts and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry. According to the organizers, the goal of the event is not only to discuss current challenges, but also to promote the professional integration of pharmacist assistants, especially after the adoption of the new legal amendments that formalize and strengthen the positions of the association in the country.
The official opening was attended by prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. Neli Grozeva, Vice-Rector of the University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pavlina Teneva, Director of the Medical College – Stara Zagora. Their presence emphasizes the commitment of academic institutions to the development of the pharmaceutical profession and the need to integrate innovations in education. An extremely important part of the scientific program of the conference were the reports, demonstrations and discussions on topics such as drug safety, alternative medicine and new therapeutic approaches.
The event also emphasized the need for sustainable cooperation with international organizations, which became especially relevant after the membership of the Bulgarian Association of Assistant Pharmacists in the European Association of Pharmacy Technicians. This step is a sign of the growing role of Bulgaria on the international pharmaceutical scene and the aspiration of local professionals to comply with global standards.
The conference also provided a platform for certificates of participation, which were received by all representatives of the Thracian University who actively participated in the scientific sessions. This practice is important not only for confirming professional qualifications, but also for encouraging continuing education in the rapidly changing pharmaceutical environment.
Undoubtedly, the Thracian University plays an important role in the development of pharmaceutical science and profession in Bulgaria, and with its award it not only affirmed its reputation, but also demonstrated its commitment to the future of the sector. In view of the upcoming legal changes and new challenges, there is a serious need to support efforts to increase the education and professionalism of pharmacist assistants, who play a key role in the healthcare system.
