Maritime London appoints Mark Williams as Chief Executive

Maritime London appoints Mark Williams as its new chief executive.

Maritime London, the London-based promotional body for the United Kingdom's maritime services sector, has a new chief executive. Mark Williams took up the role on 18 May 2026, succeeding Jos Standerwick.

Williams founded and led the consultancy Shipping Strategy, providing market intelligence and advisory work to shipowners, investors and industry bodies. His earlier career spans senior roles at Braemar, Maritime Strategies International and HSBC's shipping arm.

Maritime London exists to convene and promote the capital's maritime professional services, from law and insurance to broking and finance. The organisation described its incoming chief executive as well placed to represent that sector at home and abroad.

The appointment shows how promotional and representative bodies increasingly draw leaders from consultancy and industry rather than only from within. For membership organisations weighing an external hire, it is a live example.
