Richard Lambert
CEO,
National Hair & Beauty Federation
Richard Lambert took up his position of CEO of the National Hair and Beauty Federation in October 2020. Previously he was Chief Executive Officer of the National Landlords Association for eight years, leaving when the NLA merged with the Residential Landlords Association in March 2020.. He began his career as a parliamentary civil servant in the House of Commons, where over 10 years he worked on Select Committees, various aspects of the legislative process and interparliamentary affairs. Following a brief spell in commercial lobbying, he moved into trade associations, spending five years as the Policy Director covering residential issues at the British Property Federation, then becoming Chief Executive of the British Woodworking Federation in 2002. In 2019, Richard received the Trade Association Forum?s Best Practice Award for Outstanding Contribution and the Association Excellence Silver Award for Best Leadership. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Association Leadership and the Royal Society of Arts and a former Chairman of the National Training Organisation, Housing Potential. Why listen to this speaker? Richard is all too aware of how easy it is for membership organisations to slip into the trap of providing what they think the sector should have rather than offering what it really needs. He will use his practical experience of re-shaping two trade associations to show how listening and responding to what your members tell you is the key to better engagement and stronger growth.
