IRU members elect Habib Turki as Secretary General

RU, World Road Transport Organisation has elected Habib Turki as its next Secretary General, confirmed by a vote of its members at the General Assembly in Geneva on 29 May. Turki succeeds Umberto de Pretto and takes office on 1 August. He brings nearly two decades in trade, development, and transport, including an earlier spell as the organisation's Regional Adviser for the Middle East and, most recently, the role of Chief Development Officer at the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile. A member's vote for a senior appointment is a reminder of how federations of national associations renew their leadership in the open.
