IFAC and CIPFA release 2026 Framework on Good Governance in the Public Sector
The International Federation of Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy released the 2026 Edition of the International Framework: Good Governance in the Public Sector.The 2026 Edition updated the original 2014 Framework to reflect a decade of practice change, including progress in sustainability reporting. It set out seven principles, each with a structured set of questions designed to prompt leadership-team discussion and self-assessment.
The two bodies hosted a global community webinar on 6 May 2026 to explore the Framework with members worldwide. IFAC represents over 180 professional accountancy organisations in more than 140 jurisdictions. The Framework is downloadable from both the IFAC and CIPFA websites.
