European Pain Federation EFIC Highlights Chapter Activity Across the Continent
European Pain Federation EFIC has published its March 2026 chapter news round-up, drawing together activity from national member societies across the continent and highlighting a rich programme of scientific meetings, webinars, and educational initiatives taking place throughout the year.
The British Pain Society's Annual Scientific Meeting (detailed separately) is highlighted as a flagship event, and the update also draws attention to a new cross-society collaboration between EFIC, FENS, the European Psychiatric Association, and the European Sleep Research Society on the topic of sleep and mental health, signalling EFIC's active role in driving multidisciplinary engagement at the European level.
The Portuguese chapter, the Association for the Study of Pain (APED), features prominently with the announcement of its IX Annual Congress: "NeuroDor 360 — A Comprehensive Vision of Neuropathic Pain", taking place on 15–16 October 2026 in Tomar, Portugal. The congress is part of a broader series of APED initiatives for 2026, aligned with the International Association for the Study of Pain's (IASP) Global Year of Neuropathic Pain — underlining EFIC's role as the European chapter structure connecting national bodies with global scientific initiatives.
EFIC used the chapter update to note that several of its member societies are expanding their membership and CPD offerings for 2026, including BPS's discounted £25 membership rate for students, early career professionals, and retirees — part of an effort to retain engagement with the multidisciplinary pain community at all career stages.
