ESEE aims to strengthen influence within the EU with new initiatives

The Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship appoints Kostis Moussouroulis as Head of International Relations and launches a new publication to enhance trade initiatives.

The Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) has taken important steps to solidify its influence within the European Union, aiming to enhance its interventions in European decision-making processes that affect the business landscape. This initiative was outlined during a recent meeting held at ESEE's offices, where it was announced that Mr. Kostis Moussouroulis will assume the role of Head of International Relations at the Confederation.

Mr. Moussouroulis brings with him a wealth of expertise in European legislative processes, having a notable history of engagement in development issues. His appointment is expected to significantly bolster ESEE's involvement in the formulation of European policies that impact trade and entrepreneurship. The meeting also resulted in the creation of a comprehensive Roadmap that highlights key trade issues and outlines ESEE's upcoming initiatives on the international stage.

As part of these strategic advancements, ESEE will roll out a new monthly digital publication entitled EU Brief – Trade & Entrepreneurship. This publication is being compiled by the Confederation's Sector of European and International Policies for Trade and Entrepreneurship, signifying yet another resource for its members. It aims to provide timely and accurate information regarding legislative and regulatory developments within the EU, alongside updates on commercial and business initiatives, as well as global trends pertinent to the Greek market.

The inaugural issue, scheduled for release in March 2025, will include a diverse range of topics. Notable features include the Competitiveness Compass as presented by the European Commission, the Annual Report on the Single Market & Competitiveness for 2025, insights from the EU’s toolkit for safe and sustainable e-commerce, discussions on online advertising concerns, and an examination of Trump tariffs with remarks from the European Commission.

ESEE President Mr. Stavros Kafounis expressed confidence in the strategic direction of ESEE, highlighting the significance of Mr. Moussouroulis's extensive experience. “In a period of seismic shifts in international trade, ESEE welcomes Kostis Moussouroulis as the Head of International Relations,” said Kafounis. He elaborated on the necessity for continuous monitoring and an informed understanding of EU political and economic developments, noting that this would empower the Confederation to maintain an influential presence in decision-making centres.

Mr. Moussouroulis also shared his outlook on the evolving nature of international trade. He stated, “International trade is evolving dynamically, responding to new challenges and opportunities for growth and innovation.” He reiterated ESEE’s role as the voice for small and medium-sized enterprises, asserting the need for their representation in policy discussions that directly impact their sustainability and future prospects. His commitment is clear as he aims to enhance conditions for Greek trade to ensure that it remains competitive, innovative, and resilient amidst future challenges.

Through the appointment of Moussouroulis and the launch of EU Brief – Trade & Entrepreneurship, ESEE is positioning itself as a pivotal player in the European commercial landscape, ready to navigate the complexities of international trade while supporting its members with essential information and resources.
