EFJ launches Anti-SLAPP Monitor to track legal threats to journalists

The European Federation of Journalists launched a new Anti-SLAPP Monitor on 7 May 2026.

The European Federation of Journalists launched its Anti-SLAPP Monitor on 7 May 2026. The Monitor tracks Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation brought against journalists and media outlets across Europe.

The platform gives affiliates a structured way to record vexatious legal actions, support targeted colleagues and feed evidence into European policy work. EFJ said the Monitor would help measure the real-world impact of the EU Anti-SLAPP Directive once member states completed transposition.

EFJ represents over 295,000 journalists in 73 organisations across 45 European countries. The Federation said affiliates and individual journalists could submit cases through the dedicated portal.
