EFCE Launches "Virtual Coffee with the President" for Member Engagement

The European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) opens a new informal dialogue channel for its community.

European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) has introduced a new initiative — "Virtual Coffee with your EFCE President" — an informal, open-access forum designed to strengthen direct communication between the federation's leadership and its wider membership community across Europe.

The first session took place on 19 March 2026, and the format is intended to provide a relaxed space for open discussion and the sharing of ideas between the EFCE President and anyone across the chemical engineering community who wishes to participate. Unlike formal council meetings or policy consultations, the virtual coffee sessions are designed to be conversational and accessible, lowering the threshold for member engagement with the federation's leadership.

The launch comes alongside a period of active community-building by the EFCE. The federation's Early Career Section recently co-authored an article on "Shaping the Future of Early-Career Chemical Engineering across Europe", published in the March issue of The Chemical Engineer magazine by IChemE, while nine sessions of Spotlight Talks were organised in March across 11 Working Parties and Sections, all offered free of charge to attendees upon registration.

The EFCE also announced the launch of its official LinkedIn page, representing a further step towards improving the visibility and accessibility of the federation's activities for both members and the broader scientific community.

The federation additionally confirmed the winners of its 2026 EFCE Travel Grant for early-career chemical engineers: Xiluva Estevão and Aldwin Lois Galvan Cara, who will attend ESCAPE'36, and Dimas Wicaksono, who will attend MIXING18.
