Bringing on younger generation to be members and future leaders

The South African Communications Industry Association has just launched an innovative and exciting youth development programme.

The South African Communications Industry Association has just launched an innovative and exciting youth development programme. The association is putting a massive effort into this programme, seeing the need to engage and shape the next generation of business leaders.  This is not only for their association, but also for the health of their industry.  Today’s students will become tomorrow’s leaders. 

The speakers will describe the core elements of this youth development programme:

  • Setting up on-campus SACIA student chapters at various South African universities and a national roll-out of the initiative
  • Launching a Young Professionals’ Council for recent graduates to participate in the association’s activities
  • Dedicating a day of the association’s annual congress to youth development
  • Creating opportunities for young members to be embedded into Council and Board activities
  • The importance of collaboration between academia and industry

Executive Director, Southern African Communications Industries Association

Kevan Jones is the Executive Director of the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA). He?s spent the last decade working in the not-for-profit sector across Africa and the Middle East. Kevan holds a master?s degree from Regents University London School of Psychology and Psychotherapy. He also holds CAE designations from both the American and Canadian Societies of Association Executives, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Association Management in the UK.
