BCMPA to highlight outsourcing benefits at CHEMUK 2025

The BCMPA will showcase the strategic benefits of outsourcing for UK contract manufacturers at CHEMUK 2025, coinciding with its 25th anniversary and the launch of the outsourcing is campaign.

The BCMPA – the Association for Contract Manufacturing, Packing, Fulfilment & Logistics – is preparing to showcase the significant and increasing influence of outsourcing within the chemical sector at CHEMUK 2025, scheduled to take place on May 21st and 22nd at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham.

As a founding partner of this prominent event, the BCMPA aims to lead discussions highlighting the crucial role played by UK contract manufacturers in addressing the industry's evolving demands. To commemorate its 25th anniversary, the BCMPA has launched the #outsourcingis campaign, designed to elucidate the value of outsourcing. This initiative aims to illustrate how BCMPA members enable brands and retailers to boost operational efficiency, mitigate pressures, and foster business growth across the chemical and related sectors.

Delegates and attendees at CHEMUK can find the BCMPA team at Stand K94 in the Chemicals Management Show. The #outsourcingis campaign will take centre stage, providing crucial insights into the diverse offerings of contract manufacturing, which include blending, tolling, filling, repacking, handling, and distribution. In addition to the BCMPA showcasing its capabilities, five member companies will exhibit their expertise in chemical processing and supply chain solutions. These members – Biodeg, Briar Chemicals, Cod Beck Blenders, Libra Speciality Chemicals, and Rakem Group – play a key role in reinforcing the value of outsourcing in this sector.

The current landscape for manufacturers is increasingly challenging, with tightening regulatory demands, fluctuating material costs, and a scarcity of technical expertise. In light of these factors, many companies, particularly within the Household, Industrial & Institutional (HI&I) sectors, are increasingly turning to contract manufacturers as a strategic means of aligning operations, minimising risk, and meeting rigorous compliance and traceability requirements.

To further explore these pressing issues, the BCMPA will facilitate a panel discussion on Thursday, May 22nd, entitled “How Outsourcing Manufacturing Helps Brands Get to Market Quickly, Safely, and Drives Business Growth.” The discussion will feature industry luminaries including Emma Verkaik, CEO of the BCMPA; Matt Wood, Managing Director of HI&I Technical; and Martin Usher, Chairman of Grotech Production. These experts will delve into how the outsourcing of manufacturing can alleviate operational burdens for brands, retailers, and startups, while ensuring compliance, reducing costs, and allowing companies to focus on scaling their businesses competitively in an increasingly intricate marketplace.

Commenting on the forthcoming event, Emma Verkaik remarked, “CHEMUK provides the perfect platform to reinforce the value of outsourcing in the chemical industry, especially as we celebrate the BCMPA’s 25th anniversary. Many businesses still underestimate the strategic benefits of outsourcing. Our new campaign is designed to bridge this knowledge gap, demonstrating how outsourcing can enable brands to bring products to market more effectively.”

The BCMPA’s outsourcing campaign coincides with the introduction of a new Formulated Product Manufacturer Show Zone at CHEMUK, which aims to widen the focus to include homecare, industrial coatings, paints, lubricants, and other formulated products. This emphasis reflects a broader trend of businesses seeking flexible, scalable outsourcing solutions to effectively navigate regulatory complexities, manage volatile material pricing, and uphold increasing quality standards.
