It transforms into a dynamic stage, hosting hundreds of event, that span music, literature, film, theater, dance, and visual arts. The 2025 festival embraces the theme "Resonance", inviting attendees to explore the connections and interactions that art fosters within society.

Festival Highlights
The festival center is the heart of the altonale: On the Platz der Republik, under old trees, between the town hall, museum and train station, artists, residents, visitors and curious onlookers meet. Most events are free to attend, promoting accessibility and community participation. Some specialized performances or workshops may require tickets or prior registration.

The cultural offering is complemented by culinary delights: whether it’s for lunch break, coffee, cake, an after-work drink or simply a snack in between; there’s always a cool drink and a delicious snack on offer.
