About the Organisation

Established in 1969, the International Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) is the only global multidisciplinary society entirely devoted to paediatric and adolescent cancers. With a steadily growing membership, SIOP currently unites over 4,000 healthcare professionals and researchers working with paediatric patients worldwide. The community shares a strong common purpose to increase survival rates, to improve the quality of survival, and to ensure care for all.

Among other initiatives, the Society runs an Annual Congress on pediatric oncology, attended by 3,500 delegates from 130+ countries globally. SIOP has 6 Continental Branches -Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Oceania, and multiple programs organized by SIOP Networks and Working Groups.

About the role

As activities have increased across SIOP Continental Branches, the SIOP wishes to recruit a dedicated Program Coordinator to support the SIOP Continental Branches (especially Africa, Asia, North America, Latin America, and Oceania), and related workstreams. In particular, the SIOP Program Coordinator supports the Board structures for SIOP Asia, SIOP Africa, SIOP North America, SIOP Latin America, and SIOP Oceania with the day-to-day business of the Continental Branches, their various activities, and operations.

The Program Coordinator works closely with the SIOP Secretariat and Continental leaders to ensure every aspect of SIOP Continental Branches’ administration and programs is optimized and managed in accordance with association guidelines and objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience with a non-profit organization or association management. Attention to culture, community, and mission must be a continuous focus. Strong communication skills and fluency in English are of utmost importance.

The SIOP Program Coordinator reports to the SIOP CEO and collaborates closely with the SIOP Executive Director for Programs and Strategy and other team members of the SIOP Secretariat and SIOP Continental Branches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on all administrative and program management tasks for the SIOP Continental Branches
  • Support all programmatic initiatives of SIOP Continental Branches, including SIOP Country Ambassador program scale-up, Country Meet-Up Initiatives, Educational webinar series, etc.
  • Schedule and organize meetings for Continental Board meetings and meetings of Continental Committees/Working Groups/Task Forces, including scheduling, agenda preparation, minute taking, action item tracking, and coordination with Board members.
  • Lead on efforts to reach out and engage national societies of paediatric oncology (NAPHOS). Manage a database of NAPHOS up-to-date and interact with them on projects and initiatives; Lead efforts to collaborate with NAPHOS, especially in growing SIOP members through collaborations with NAPHOS.
  • Plan and communicate logistical arrangements and agendas for virtual/in-person SIOP Continental Branch Annual Business Meetings (ABM) and relevant Continental President Town Hall meetings.
  • Manage the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and communication with SIOP Country Ambassadors, ensuring clear task delegation, regular follow-up, and documentation of their activities.
  • Support the email and social media communications about the SIOP Continental Congresses (Mongolia 2026, Nigeria 2026, etc.) to encourage save the date, abstract submission, Congress registration, and post-Congress surveys.
  • In consultation with the SIOP Marketing and Communications Coordinator, grow the SIOP Continental Branches’ social media presence, including posting regular social media posts, updates, and engagement across WhatsApp, X, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. 
  • Manage the communications to the members of Continental Branches (email blasts, newsletters, SIOP News Page updates, Bi-Weekly Bulletin contributions, etc).
  • Assist with the development of promotional materials for Continental events. 
  • Write the Continental segment of the SIOP Annual Report. 
  • Support efforts to increase and retain the SIOP members. 
  • Support other admin or programmatic requests from the SIOP CEO, Exec Director for Programs and Strategy, and Continental Presidents.
  • Support Continental Board member nominations and election processes and term tracking.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Education, Experience & Attributes:

  • Proven 3 years of experience in an administrative or programmatic role in a non-profit organization.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral) and strong communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy, excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet research skills. 
  • Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp) and social media post design using Canva is an advantage.
  • Willingness to accept a consultancy contract and willingness to work remotely/home-based.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and be coached and mentored.
  • Willingness to learn software that is commonly used for this job (SurveyMonkey, Your Membership, Canva, basic video trimming software, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel to SIOP Congresses approximately twice a year

Contract

  • SIOP will offer a consultancy contract to the successful candidate.
  • Apart from the monthly consultancy fee paid to the consultant via a bank transfer, the consultant will not receive any other payments and is expected to handle all applicable taxes, pension contributions, insurance, etc by himself or herself.   • Extension of the contract is subject to strong performance and the needs of the Society. 
  • The Consultant will be reimbursed for any travel costs for business trips.
  • SIOP has some flexibility on the start date to accommodate the best candidate.
