About the Organisation
Established in 1995, the Self Storage Association (SSA UK) is the principal trade association representing both self storage operators and industry supplier members’ interests in the UK.
The association seeks to promote best practice and facilitate the growth of one of the fastest growing alternative asset based industries in the UK.
Nationally, there are approximately 2900+ facilities, offering approximately 64 million square feet of rentable space (Source Cushman & Wakefield/SSA UK, 2025). Over 80% of the self storage stores in the United Kingdom are members of the association, along with many suppliers to the sector.
Directed by experienced non-executive Directors from member organisations and with close affiliations with the Federation of European Self Storage Associations (FEDESSA), the SSA UK currently has over 680 members from storage operators and suppliers to the industry. As the industry matures, our membership continues to grow and with this growth, we are able to provide more services and benefits in support of our members.
About the role
Are you passionate about digital systems, data integrity, and creating seamless member experiences? SSA UK and FEDESSA are looking for a Membership IT Officer to lead the optimisation and integration of our CRM and CMS platforms (Pixl8 Ready Membership) across both our UK and European operations. Responsibilities
- To manage the optimisation and integration of the association’s CRM and CMS platforms (Pixl8 Ready Membership) for both the UK Association and European Federation (FEDESSA), ensuring a seamless digital experience for members and staff while supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Administer and maintain the Ready Membership system, ensuring data accuracy and system integrity.
- Support membership processes including renewals, applications, communications, and event management.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve digital member journeys.
- Generate reports and dashboards to track membership KPIs, data and trends.
- Provide technical support to staff and members on membership platforms including onboarding and provide basic IT guidance / training to new staff.
- Manage integrations between CRM and other systems (e.g., website, email marketing).
- Maintain and update website content, pages, and resources within the Ready CMS, including forms, event listings, and publications.
- Test and verify new features, fixes, and system updates prior to deployment
- Administer and maintain the StorerCheck platform, including managing member access, and troubleshooting issues.
- Support conference and event infrastructure, including setting up registration systems, name badging, and digital event tools such as Zoom and event apps, and attend events when required.
- Contribute to process improvements and evaluation of new event management systems, digital tools and/or software
- Liaise with external vendors and developers for system upgrades and troubleshooting.
- First-line IT support for issues within the team environment (Office 365), and liaison with external IT provider over more complex issues
- Ensure GDPR compliance and data security across membership systems.
- Assist in digital transformation projects and system upgrades.
- Any other duties as assigned, commensurate with the post
Skills & Competencies
Required Skills:
- Technical Skills Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g. Ready Membership) and CMS platforms including content updates and user management, Excel, and data analysis. Strong understanding of data structures, integrations, and user permissions
- Communication Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to present data in an audience-appropriate manner
- Problem Solving Ability to troubleshoot system issues and propose effective solutions
- Organisation Excellent attention to detail, time management and ability to manage multiple digital workflows
Desirable Skills:
- Sector Knowledge Detailed understanding of trade associations or professional bodies, and/or knowledge of the self storage industry.
- Project Management Experience with marketing automation tools and CRM workflows. Experience delivering successful IT/digital projects.
- Web Skills Familiarity with CMS platforms and development of templating
- Analytics Ability to generate insights from CRM/CMS data to inform strategy
Required Experience:
- Experience Minimum 2 years’ management of CRM and CMS systems in a commercial, membership or non-profit setting
Required Qualifications
- Education Degree or equivalent experience in IT, information systems, or related field
Compensation & Benefits
- 25 days annual leave
- Hybrid working (one day in officer per week)
