About the role
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is seeking a creative and proactive Communications and Marketing Officer to support the delivery of high-impact, integrated marketing and communications campaigns that advance the College’s mission to improve child health.
This is a key role within the Communications and Marketing team, working closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager and colleagues across the organisation to plan, execute, and optimise marketing activities. You will bring strong digital marketing expertise and content creation skills to help us engage our members, promote our events and courses, and raise awareness of our work.
As Communications and Marketing Officer, you will take ownership of day-to-day campaign delivery, monitoring performance and using data-driven insights to improve results. You will create compelling content across multiple channels, including email, social media, and web, ensuring all activity is on-brand and aligned with our strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Support in the creation and execution of targeted marketing and social media campaigns and activities
- Create and manage the send process for a range of College emails, including regular bulletins and ad hoc mail. You will be a go-to person at the College for people to learn more about using email for marketing purposes.
- Day-to-day management of paid marketing campaigns across social and other digital channels
- Creating compelling content in multiple formats and ensuring that it is high-quality and on-brand
- Supporting the marketing of College events and courses to reach a broad audience range
- Management of the social media marketing activity, including supporting on strategy, creating assets, scheduling and reporting/optimisation of activity
- Work towards targets and be able to analyse reporting data to improve marketing performance
- Communicate marketing performance to stakeholders and advise on how to optimise
- Proactively work with stakeholders to gather the required content and assets to ensure
- College marketing priorities are planned and scheduled
- Create and manage marketing plans for all activities, suggesting enhancements and improvements
- Create UTM codes to track and monitor all marketing activity
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Essential:
- Experience with digital marketing channels, including email, social media, and websites
- Experience developing and implementing communications plans across channels, from across the organisation
- Experience in using Google Analytics to track, analyse, and report on marketing performance, and making data-driven decisions to optimise campaigns
- Experience in managing email marketing campaigns, including the creation, scheduling, and performance analysis of campaigns
- Experience in digital marketing and content marketing, including producing and editing multimedia content (graphics and video) and writing engaging on-brand marketing copy
- Experience in managing paid and organic social media campaigns across multiple platforms
- Experience in using design and media editing tools (Canva)
- Ability to tailor messaging and content to effectively engage diverse target audiences across multiple communication channels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Comfortable managing and prioritising multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with stakeholders across seniority levels
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a marketing and communications role
- Strong project management skills
- Knowledge of the charity or membership sector.
- Familiarity with certain tools and platforms (for example, Hootsuite, AdWords, Dotdigital, Adobe)
