Metal Packaging Europe is a Brussels-based industry association representing the interests of rigid metal packaging at the European level, and bringing together manufacturers and national associations.
About the role
The Sustainability & Public Affairs Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and promoting an organization’s sustainability strategy while also managing its relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, industry bodies, and the public. This role bridges environmental and social responsibility with advocacy and strategic communication.
Responsibilities
- Follow up on EU policies on climate change, circular economy, packaging waste, green claims, recycling, food waste, food contact, and chemicals.
- Support engagement on new initiatives under the Steel & Metals Action Plan, Clear Industrial Deal, and Circular Economy Act.
- Develop position papers and policy briefings, responses to public consultations, advocacy documents, and other relevant materials.
- Engage with EU policymakers and other external stakeholders or partners.
- Support and coordinate beverage cans section meetings, projects, campaigns, budget, and events.
- Liaise with beverage can members at the EU and national levels.
- Contribute to the overall Metal Packaging Europe strategy, public affairs, projects, and communication activities.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
Experience:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in EU sustainability policy and public affairs.
- Good understanding of waste and packaging-related topics, including Extended Producer Responsibility and Packaging & Packaging Waste legislation. Previous experience within FMCG companies or EU institutions is a plus.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of another European language is an asset.

Required Qualifications
- University degree in either European studies, law, or engineering.
