About the role

The main role of the Communications Manager is to promote the Skin Health Alliance’s (SHA) aims and objectives to industry, professionals, and consumers. It is also to raise the organisation’s profile in order to secure business and establish the SHA as an authoritative voice on skin issues and the world’s leading dermatological accreditor of skin products.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside communications departments of other industry bodies and associations, furthering the SHA’s messages and mission.
  • Manage close relationships with the SHA partners, communication teams, and agencies, and implement joint campaigns with brands
  • Manage the SHA website content and social media presence across all platforms, whether working in-house or with external agencies
  • Monitor SHA media coverage, and prepare and present media evaluation reports for SHA Directors
  • Brief and guide spokespeople representing the SHA, including dermatologists, experts, and the SHA team
  • Recruit and organise specialist involvement with the SHA campaign and media opportunities.
  • Create and implement an annual SHA communication plan and ongoing media strategies
  • Write and distribute SHA press releases, proactively create and sell-in stories to the media
  • Act as the SHA spokesperson and champion, actively provide comments, and give media interviews when required
  • Ensure consistency in the use of the SHA  name, brand, identity, and key messages
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key health and beauty journalists
  • Develop close working relationships with SHA dermatologists and experts
  • Represent the SHA at key industry meetings,  international events, and conferences
  • Manage relationships with the SHA partners' communication teams
  • Manage external communications agencies and suppliers
  • Create regular updates for SHA’s stakeholders

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Practical Requirements: 

  • Ability work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership, offering strategic counsel and communication support for enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Experience in developing and executing strategic communication plans that drive employee engagement and alignment with business objectives.
  • Strong project management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be a creative individual with a keen eye for accuracy and detail

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience in internal communications, 5 years
  • Marketing 5 years
  • Excellent writing, editing abilities, knowledge of communication theories and principles, familiarity with various communication channels, the ability to use data and analytics to measure performance, and project management and budgeting skills are essential
  • Familiarity with communication tools and platforms, including Microsoft Teams.
  • Have extensive experience across multiple communications channels
  • Creativity and innovation, leadership and teamwork abilities, communication and interpersonal skills, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in a communications discipline or recent experience in communications, marketing or media

Working locations

  • Hybrid model, working in the London office and remotely
