About the Organisation
Brussels International Center (BIC) is an independent, non-profit, think-and-do tank, led by Ambassador Marc Otte, former European Union's Special Representative to the Middle East Peace Process. The BIC is committed to developing solutions to address the cyclical drivers of insecurity, economic fragility, and conflict in the wider Middle East region and Africa. In addition, we strive to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by analysing the historical, economic, social, and political factors influencing the current complex and global issues.
About the role
The ideal candidate will support our contact with European institutions and other organisations, coordinating our engagement in external partnerships.. The Research Coordinator will also help enhance the quality of research through continuous monitoring, feedback, and strategic planning.
Responsibilities
- Research Schedule Management: Oversee the submission deadlines and schedules of research projects, ensuring all deadlines are met and researchers are on track.
- Support Relationship Building at European Institutions: asBuild and maintain relationships with European institutions, research centers and NGOs, fostering relationships and bringing innovative ideas related to research on conflict resolution, human rights, and geopolitical developments.
- Research Monitoring and Feedback: Monitor the progress of research work, assess its quality, and provide constructive feedback for improvements.
- Strategic Research Development: Assist the administration in formulating the annual research strategy in alignment with the BIC’s long-term vision and goals.
- Annual Reporting: Prepare an annual report detailing the BIC’s research achievements, assess the effectiveness of the projects, and identify areas for improvement.
- Event Participation and Organization: Participate in and help organize key events related to the BIC’s mission, including those at the European Parliament, Human Rights Council, or other relevant venues. Provide post-event reports to assess outcomes and further engagement.
Skills, Competencies, & Experience
Experience:
- Familiarity with the European Parliament, the UN Human Rights Council, and other international organisations.
- Background in project management, communications, international relations, political science, or a related field is preferred.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of French and any other language is a plus).
- Proven experience in research coordination, management, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of conflict resolution, human rights, and geopolitical developments in the MENA region and Sahel.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in event coordination and reporting.
Working locations
- Brussels office with occasional travel required
