About the Organisation
ASET is the UK professional body for university placement and employability staff. An independent educational charity, ASET is self-funded by membership subscriptions, primarily from Higher Education Providers and from training events and conferences.
About the role
The Member Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing communication plans that inform and engage our membership. This role involves creating compelling content across multiple channels, managing member outreach campaigns, and ensuring consistent messaging aligned with ASET’s brand and values.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communication strategies that enhance member engagement and support our income-generating activities.
- Create and distribute newsletters, email campaigns, social media posts, and other member-facing content, including www.asetonline.org
- Monitor and analyse communication metrics to assess effectiveness and optimise future outreach.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice across all member communications.
- These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required due to the nature of the business and team size.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
- Experience in communications, preferably in a membership-based organisation, charity/nonprofit, and client management role.
- Data-driven with experience of using analytics tools to steer decision-making (SEO, Google Analytics, email performance metrics).
- IT proficiency; email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor), design software (Canva), social media tools, and WordPress
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Versatile and self-motivated with an ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Flexible to travel to events UK-wide, including some overnight stays (Conference)
- Prior experience and/or knowledge of Work-Based and Placement Learning or employability within the HE sector
- Knowledge of relevant UK legislation and applicable good practice, GDPR, and accessibility
