About the Organisation
Hematologic diseases afflict millions of Europeans each year. The European Hematology Association (EHA), located in the heart of The Hague (Netherlands), is a non-profit professional association serving clinicians and researchers with an active interest in hematology in Europe and beyond. Our mission is to promote excellence in patient care through education, research, and advocacy.
Hematology is constantly changing. We help our members stay current by delivering a structured educational program created by hematologists for hematologists. We offer a range of career development programs to help clinicians and researchers grow professionally and personally. We also advocate for hematologists and hematology at the local and international levels.
About the role
Are you an inspirational strategic leader with genuine people skills and a background in the innovative life science field? Then, apply for our position of Knowledge Lead. In this position, you will strategically define the way forward for our EHA Knowledge Unit. You will be responsible for three departments: education, scientific publications, and research (19 FTE). You will actively master managerial aspects of daily work, people development, culture, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Manage employee performance of the direct and indirect reports (within the constituent teams); coach attitude and lead by example.
- Oversee the unit's operations and performance; meet strategic goals, set high-standard values, optimize budgets, spearhead strategic thinking, and improve processes.
- Be an ambassador, spread knowledge, and foster interactions with the community; improve access and sharing, facilitating adoption, innovation, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities and potential risks while endorsing principles of fairness, create mitigation strategies, and leverage partnerships.
- Build an equity, open, and inclusive culture where everyone has an opportunity and is recognized for their efforts; unleash the potential of every member in our ecosystem.
- Lead excellence within core knowledge programs, such as the campus platform, medical education, research grants, clinical guidelines, journal publications, mentoring, and podcasts (to name a few) to enhance clinical practice and scientific progress.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
Experience:
- 10+ years working experience in the life or health sciences
- Working experience with innovation-related associations and boards is an advantage
- Proven record with successful organizational change management
- Natural talent to lead workflows and plan formulation
- 5+ years of experience in people and organization management non-profit is welcome
Skills & Competencies - Required:
- Able to lead and optimize a diverse, large team with varied expertise and priorities
- Strategic thinker with a passion for managing, co-working, and able to inspire people
- Ability to define and execute budgets (activities, finance, personnel, etc.)
- Proficiency in crafting creative, innovative, and moving stories.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills,
- Talent to build relationships with all stakeholders
- Capability to fluently communicate in English (in writing and orally)
- Scientific curiosity, empathy, and creativity
- Good organizational and planning skills
- Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Stakeholder management at a senior level; able to challenge the thinking of experts
- Willingness to travel (significantly) outside the Netherlands (mainly within Europe)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s, Doctorate in healthcare or medical sciences
