About the role

A Junior Communications Officer supports an organization’s communication efforts by assisting in the creation, coordination, and dissemination of content across various channels. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with strong writing skills, digital know-how, and an interest in promoting brand awareness or organizational messages.

Responsibilities

  • The junior communications officer will assist in creating compelling digital content and maintaining the social media of Climate Alliance initiatives, with a main focus on EPAH. Additionally, the junior officer will have the chance to learn new skills as part of the EPAH team as well as the Climate Alliance Brussels and Frankfurt team.

  • Under the supervision of the communication and project managers, the junior officer will provide support in the following areas:
    • Produce engaging multimedia content, including short videos and podcast episodes, in line with the initiative’s themes and annual campaigns.
    • Coordinate the design and layout of EPAH publications, such as reports, guidelines, factsheets, and other communication materials, ensuring consistency with the project's visual identity.
    • Create visual assets including infographics, social media graphics, and promotional visuals to support digital campaigns.
    • Support the management of the EPAH website, including drafting, uploading, and maintaining user-friendly and timely content.
    • Develop and implement social media campaigns, aligned with project milestones, calls to action, and dissemination needs across EPAH’s digital platforms.
    • Contribute to the production of the EPAH newsletter, including content planning, layout, editing, and publication using email distribution tools.
    • Assist in the organisation and promotion of EPAH events, including online webinars, in-person conferences, and workshops across Europe.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Technical Skills:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in communications & working on European-funded projects.
  • Interest and experience in energy transition, climate change & sustainability.
  • Proficiency in video-making and editing software.
  • Excellent knowledge of podcast production tools.
  • Competence with graphic design software (Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Excellent writing & speaking skills in English. Additional languages are an asset.
  • Experience in using Content Management Systems (preferably Open Europa).
  • Experience in email marketing tools (Mailchimp, EC Newsroom tool).
  • Ability to plan and implement targeted digital campaigns.
  • Experience in event organisation is a plus.

  • Motivated to work with local governments and civil society on climate action.
  • Interest in climate justice, energy poverty, and inclusive energy transition.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in strategic communication, media, graphic design, or any related field.
