About the Organisation

Galvanizing Europe represents the batch galvanizing industry. Through EU policy and stakeholder engagement, it advocates sustainable steel protection and highlights the industry’s contribution to circularity, climate goals, and durable infrastructure.

About the role

The Director–EU Policy will lead and coordinate our advocacy on priority policy developments in sustainability, climate, circular economy, and industrial regulations. Responsibilities include monitoring legislation, prioritising actions, engaging with EU policymakers, and aligning industry advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strategies, engage with EU institutions, and represent the association in policy forums. Coordinate advocacy actions with our national associations and industry partners.
  • Policy Monitoring & Analysis: Track and report on EU legislation affecting the galvanizing industry.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Support: Provide expertise on climate, energy, and trade policies impacting the galvanizing industry and related sectors such as steel construction.
  • Communication & Representation: Draft position papers, briefings, consultation responses, and contribute to social media activities.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in EU policy, advocacy, or regulatory affairs within the industrial/environmental sectors and associations or EU institutions.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of EU legislative processes and industrial, climate, energy, environmental trade policy.
  • Proven achievement in political communications, public affairs, and advocacy.
  • Experience in association management is advantageous, but not a must.
  • Excellent English communication skills (and fluency in at least one other EU language).
  • Ability to engage effectively with EU institutions, industry groups, and NGOs

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in EU affairs, political science, environmental law, engineering, or related fields
