British Medical Association (BMA) is a professional association and trade union for doctors and medical students in the UK. The BMA speaks for doctors at all stages of their careers and is a leading voice on a wide range of professional and political issues affecting medicine and health.
The policy directorate's critical function is ensuring that the BMA leads debates on the range of public health, healthcare, and workforce issues. Equally critical is ensuring that our committees and internal structures work effectively and dynamically. The General Practitioners Committee (GPC) is the only body that represents all GPs in the UK. It deals with all matters affecting NHS GPs, regardless of BMA membership.
About the role
The People and Corporate Development directorate is accountable for association-wide activities that focus on the reputation and culture of the BMA. We are looking for a Corporate and Member Development Officer (EDI) who will provide support to all day-to-day aspects of the BMA’s corporate EDI (equality, diversity, and inclusion) work and will ensure that the annual programme of work is implemented and delivered.
Responsibilities
- Support the directorate in its corporate equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) activities
- Responsible for named projects and will also ensure the smooth running and coordination of these
- Contribute to the development of corporate EDI communications with Members and stakeholders, as well as research and drafting of written papers and reports on equality issues
- Working cross-organisationally with colleagues in other directorates.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
- Experience in coordinating projects, drafting reports, and working across teams to achieve results
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities at once
- Ability to grasp new concepts and processes quickly, and undertake analysis of proposals, particularly in emerging areas of EDI
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
