About the role
We are looking for a creative and results-driven Communication Officer to join our young, international, and dynamic team. In this multifaceted role, you will develop and implement integrated communication strategies to strengthen FEAD’s visibility and influence. Combining strategic planning with hands-on delivery, you will work on policy-focused messaging, content and graphic creation, digital channels, media relations, and event promotion. At the forefront of FEAD’s outreach, you will ensure that our policy proposals and campaigns on waste management and the circular economy reach EU institutions, policymakers, media, and stakeholders across Europe.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate closely with the policy team to ensure communications support FEAD’s advocacy objectives.
- Monitor, understand, and interpret EU-level legislative and regulatory developments relevant to waste management and the circular economy, and translate them into clear and impactful communication messages.
- Draft and implement the annual Communications Action Plan and Strategy, aligning communication activities with advocacy and policy priorities.
- Manage and regularly update FEAD’s websites, ensuring content reflects new campaigns, documents, and ad-hoc projects.
- Manage and expand FEAD’s presence on Social Media channels, including content strategy, editorial planning, visual production, and performance analysis.
- Draft, edit, and distribute the internal weekly Bulletin and the external weekly newsletters.
- Draft, edit, and design communication materials (press releases, policy updates, publications, infographics, and videos).
- Coordinate and promote FEAD’s events (conferences, webinars), ensuring visibility and outreach before, during, and after.
- Provide strategic advice on FEAD’s communication and engagement activities to maximise impact.
- Liaise with members, journalists, and stakeholders to enhance FEAD’s visibility and reputation.
- Support the coordination of FEAD’s meetings and provide communications assistance for internal activities.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a similar role: communications, preferably in a European association, consultancy, NGO, or corporate environment dealing with EU affairs.
- Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written) with an ability to detect grammatical errors; additional EU languages are an asset.
- Proven ability to develop engaging policy-related content across multiple formats and audiences.
- Good graphical and design skills for visual productions.
- Solid understanding of digital tools and social media management.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- A proactive and adaptable team player, capable of working in a small but motivated team.
- Interest in environmental issues and circular economy policies.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in communications or a related field.
