About the role

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is a key leadership role within the Innovation & Deployment department, responsible for the end-to-end management of one or more EU-funded projects with a focus on CCAM. The SPM oversees project delivery, ensuring alignment with ERTICO’s strategic goals, and leads the development of new project proposals and initiatives. This role involves cross-functional coordination with other departments and proactive engagement with stakeholders and ERTICO partners, contributing to the growth of the ERTICO network.

Responsibilities

Horizon Europe Project Management & Delivery:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and delivery of Horizon Europe and other EU-funded projects related to CCAM
  • Ensure timely achievement of project milestones, deliverables, and KPIs
  • Manage project budgets, resources, risks, and reporting requirements
  • Coordinate project teams across I&D and other internal departments, assigning responsibilities and ensuring high-quality outputs
  • Liaise with the European Commission and other funding bodies as required.

Horizon Europe Proposal & Business Development:

  • Identify funding opportunities and lead the preparation and submission of high-quality project proposals aligned with ERTICO’s mission and strategy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential partners from the public and private sectors
  • Actively contribute to the development of new research activities under the CCAM agenda.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategy Contribution:

  • Contribute to ERTICO’s strategic direction in CCAM, supporting the development and promotion of innovative ITS solutions in this domain;
  • Actively contribute to the ITS Europe and World Congresses organised by ERTICO and represent ERTICO at external events, conferences, and stakeholder forums, acting as a subject-matter expert;
  • Support the growth and engagement of ERTICO’s partnership network in the CCAM domain.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 7 years in EU project management (preferably Horizon Europe or H2020), including EU project proposal development and writing;
  • Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects, including budgeting, reporting, and coordination;
  • In-depth understanding of smart mobility and ITS: Specialisation in CCAM is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of the EU policy landscape and funding programmes, including ECAS platform;
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills;
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional EU languages are an asset.

Desirable:

  • Excellent knowledge of Project Management Tools, PMP or PRINCE2 certification equivalent project management training is an asset.
  • Experience working with or in public authorities is an asset.
  • Existing network of contacts in the European mobility and transport innovation ecosystem;
  • Facilitator skills during the proposal building process and is able to build consensus.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Transport & Mobility, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field
