About the Organisation
European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association was founded in 1991 under the French name l’Association des Constructeurs Européens d’Automobiles, which explains the widely used and recognised acronym still in use today: ACEA. Three decades ago, its founding members were: BMW, DAF, Daimler-Benz, FIAT, Ford, General Motors Europe, MAN, Porsche, Renault, Rolls-Royce, Rover, Saab-Scania, Volkswagen, Volvo Car, and AB Volvo. In more recent years, ACEA also opened its doors to non-European manufacturers with significant production and research facilities in the EU.
About the role
The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Public Affairs Officer to join its ambitious team in Brussels. The Public Affairs Officer will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience advocating for the EU automotive industry while contributing to impactful policy development and legislative processes at the European level.
Responsibilities
Public Affairs Officer will focus:
- Monitor, analyse, and report on EU legislative and regulatory developments affecting the EU automotive industry;
- Research specific policy areas to assist the team’s public affairs efforts;
- Collaborate with the team to create and deliver compelling advocacy campaigns, translating complex topics into accessible messages tailored to policymakers.
- Building a network of institutional contacts for advocacy purposes.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
- Strong interest in public affairs, the EU legislative processes, and the industrial transformation to climate neutrality.
- Previous experience (one year) in a similar role in a government, think tank, consultancy, trade association, and NGO at the national, EU, or international level.
- Policy communication mindset: a strong political acumen and the ability to transform complex policy topics into compelling narratives for non-experts.
- Excellent research, analytical, communication, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in law, political science, or economics, specific EU law or politics studies are an asset, other relevant degrees will be considered as well.
