About the role
Are you passionate about shaping Europe’s clean energy future? Hydrogen Europe is looking for a dynamic and motivated Policy Officer to join our team and help drive the transition to a climate-neutral economy. In this role, you’ll support policy development, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory analysis across the hydrogen value chain. You’ll work closely with EU institutions, industry leaders, and research partners to advance policies that accelerate hydrogen deployment and innovation. Responsibilities
- Contribute to developing and rolling out Hydrogen Europe’s strategy, positioning, and advocacy on current and future EU energy and climate policy issues, notably with regard to hard-to-abate transport modes such as aviation and maritime.
- Analyse relevant EU, national, and international regulatory developments.
- Advocate Hydrogen Europe positions towards European policy makers in coordination with the transport and energy policy directors, through external meetings, events, and public engagement.
- Support the energy and mobility team inter alia in designing and implementing strategies, drafting position papers with the industry, preparing responses to public consultations, and engaging with policymakers at the EU and national level.
- Coordinate and support the work of Hydrogen Europe’s mobility and energy policy working groups and provide support to other working groups.
- Represent Hydrogen Europe externally, developing partnerships with other like-minded stakeholders, participating in and speaking at external events.
- Prepare briefings and documents for a variety of purposes/audiences.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ work experience in European affairs; knowledge and strong interest in the mobility and industrial & sustainable policy sector, with a passion for hydrogen is a plus.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of other European languages is an asset.
- Solid understanding of EU institutions and their workings, as well as understanding of the current situation related to politics, economics, and policy related to energy and climate.
- Experience in handling EU dossiers.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Accuracy, attention to detail.
- Meeting deadlines and providing a high-quality service, even when working under pressure.
- Flexible, reliable, good team player with a positive can-do attitude.
Skills:
- Solid organisational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple issues and tight deadlines.
- Excellent written, communication, and analytical skills.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge and capability with Microsoft Office, such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant university or advanced degree: European Affairs, Political Economy, International Relations, European law, Public Administration, Energy management, etc.
