About the Organisation
European Textile Service Association's purpose is to promote the interests, priorities, and concerns of the textile service industry, in cooperation with our member companies and national associations. Our objective is to influence policies on the European level as well as serve as a platform to discuss best practices. ETSA also monitors and responds to developing EU legislation in order to ensure the interests of the textile service industry are represented.
Our valued Members consist of both textile service and rental textile companies, and their suppliers, as well as National Textile Associations. While our members are diverse and have different perspectives, their input is valued by both of us and relevant EU policymakers. Many of our member firms serve as pillars to local communities, providing both jobs and an essential service.
About the role
ETSA is seeking a Policy & Communications Coordinator to support its external communications, public relations/affairs, policy analysis, and event coordination activities. This Brussels-based role will focus on shaping media narratives, enhancing ETSA’s visibility, and positioning the organisation as a key player in the EU landscape through evidence-based storytelling and strategic engagement with media and institutions.
The coordinator will partner closely with the Secretary General and EU Affairs manager and feel comfortable liaising with other players, such as ETSA members and/or other key actors in Brussels. This role is based at our Brussels headquarters and reports to the Secretary General.
Responsibilities
- PR & Media Relations: Build and manage our EU media relationships across textile and textile services (and a cross-sectoral approach), securing high-quality media coverage on ETSA social media, ETSA Website, ETSA Newsletter, and ETSA Snapshots
- Studies Measurement: Oversee when specific studies are produced & define and track national KPIs when drafting/running target surveys
- Events: Close focus on the set-up & execution of events, including ETSA Congress, Trade Fairs, and the organization of ETSA Working Groups and National Associations Group
- Executive Visibility & Corporate Communications: Assist in external communications in support of the Secretary General and Senior leadership, including interviews for the Secretary General, for ETSA members, public statements in response to consultations, and corporate messaging following a study or specific ETSA’s position
- Communication, Coordination & Management: Develop protocols for Working Groups and National Associations to facilitate their real-time communication
- Media Monitoring: Oversee EU institutions' PR agencies, PR from national and regional partners, and any market-specific press resources from ETSA members' websites/social media
- Policy Analysis: Support the EU Affairs Manager and the Secretary General in the analysis of specific legislative dossiers, with summarising reports and extrapolating key information for members
- Advocacy: Support the Secretary General and the EU Affairs Manager on the ETSA lobbying strategy, tackling Members of the Parliament and National Permanent Representations
- Industry Relations & Cultural Visibility: Manage relationships with key textile/ fashion industries and other key trade associations
- Performance Measurement: Define and track national KPIs, including press impressions, narrative share-of-voice, and support, when necessary, the drafting/running of target surveys
- Internal Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with the ETSA team on internal communication alignment to ensure consistency between internal and external messaging. Build, scale, and lead a high-performing global PR & Communications organization
- ADMIN-ETSA has a small Secretariat - support on occasional administrative tasks is part of the role
Skills, Competencies & Experience
- 5+ years of communication experience
- Experience in developing a media network with strong relationships across the press, editors, journalists, and influencers in the EU bubble
- Proven track record leading and/or assisting in high-profile press strategy and/or with executive communications with EU/International organizations
- Strong creative & storytelling skills, concise messaging, and spot-on analysis, with strong narrative development capabilities
- Very Good knowledge of the Green Deal policies and latest EU Clean Industrial Deal, new OMNIBUS packages, and energy/PFAS dossiers would be a plus
- Collaborative cross-functional partner able to work with a diverse audience: governments and national representations, EU institutions, educational institutions and other trade associations
- Executive presence with excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive or high-profile matters in synergy with the Secretary General and the EU Affairs Manager
- English native speaker
- Experience in the textile and chemical or textile machinery sectors will be a plus
- Understanding and experience of networking with EU institutions will be a plus
