About the Organisation

Founded in 1995, the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association (IBMA) is an international non-profit trade association, based in Brussels since 2013. With over 200 members globally, we represent manufacturers of biocontrol solutions that establish effective alternatives to control pests and diseases in an environmentally friendly manner. A large percentage of IBMA members are small and medium Enterprises (SMEs). Our members’ solutions enhance biodiversity, improve soil health, and fulfill the sustainability goals that consumers demand.

About the role

As IBMA Membership and Events Officer, you will coordinate member events and communications, manage membership data, and contribute to content creation that supports member engagement and organisational visibility. You report to the Marketing and Communications Manager.

Responsibilities

Member Events:

  • Organise all IBMA events, including member events, IBMA Biocontrol Week, member webinars, and parliamentary events;
  • Assist in organising the Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM), including coordination of congress sessions, speakers, and promotions;
  • Oversee communication and planning for the annual Bernard Blum Award;
  • Support special member events, with a focus in 2025 on IBMA’s 30-year anniversary celebrations.

Member Data Management & Engagement:

  • Maintain and update the member database and mailing lists;
  • Onboard new members and manage membership applications and enquiries;
  • Strengthen member relations to support recruitment and retention.
  • Assist with the launch and implementation of the new membership engagement platform.
  • Develop and distribute targeted content for members, including updates from and to Professional Groups, National Associations, and newsletters;
  • Collaborate with members to gather up-to-date content, such as examples of biocontrol in action.

Website and Social Media Analytics:

  • Monitor and report on website and social media analytics as needed.

Content Creation & Management

  • Create and disseminate engaging content for social media and email communications;
  • Assist in the launch and maintenance of the new website, including updating content and creating news items.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Requirements:

  • Up to two years’ experience in communications or membership role;
  • Strong content creation skills;
  • Proficiency in design tools (Adobe Suite, Canva) and PowerPoint;
  • Experience with content management systems (e.g. WordPress) and email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailerlite);
  • Excellent written and verbal English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask;
  • Service-oriented mindset;
  • Ability to build and preserve trusted relationships with members.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in communications or a related field;
