About the role
RenewableUK is largely supported by two key income streams: corporate membership fees and its major annual events. Reporting to the Head of Membership, the post-holder will support RenewableUK’s member engagement across all areas of our activities. This will include recruitment of new members and retention of existing ones, attendance at RUK and industry events to meet industry colleagues and promote RUK membership, supporting the organisation’s digital strategy transformation, and management of the membership business processes.
Responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Working with the Head of Membership to identify potential new members and promote the benefits of RUK membership to these organisations.
- Active recruitment work to include research on target member markets, prospecting opportunities, communicating the value of membership, and closing sales – all with good record keeping on the CRM.
- Awareness of commercial targets for the membership team and individual contribution expectations towards this annual target.
- Supporting the processes pertinent to member engagement, onboarding, and membership account management, including data inputting on the CRM.
- Working with the Head of Membership to coordinate and implement a key account management strategy for members. With 480 member companies, this role will engage with these organisations across the year and ensure they are aware of and engaging with key member benefits such as our data platform, communication forums, and networking opportunities.
- Coordinating the Association’s series of ‘Connect’ business-to-business networking events. Including identifying suitable and attractive facilities, coordinating with the host on a suitable programme, developing a marketing plan for the event, and being an on-site delivery partner for the host member company.
- Attending RenewableUK and other key industry events and managing business relationships onsite.
- Presence on the RenewableUK stand, attendance at networking events and participating, as necessary, with side events and core conference activity – all with a view to increasing awareness of member benefits and recruiting suitable companies.
- Working with the Head of Membership to coordinate an effective marketing strategy for member engagement, with both existing and new members.
- Due consideration of how we evolve our member offer, stay current, and ensure these values are clear to members.
- Supporting the Commercial Director of RenewableUK in the management of the ongoing commercial and stakeholder Memorandum of Understanding, including with other trade associations.
- Research – agile in focus.
Member Engagement and Support:
- Manage business processes relating to membership, including (but not limited to): liaising with the membership base to handle queries and deliver high standards of member management.
- Use systems to process applications and subscriptions, benefits fulfilment, finances, and renewals.
- Research and outreach work to potential new members and lapsed members.
- Using digital systems to manage our relationship with members, through inputting and outputting data, and analysing data to maximise opportunities
- Maintain member database and key contact information.
- Manage the membership calendar, schedule, meetings, and communications across the RUK team (working with the Head of Membership).
Commercial Responsibilities:
- Commercial responsibility for membership targets, meeting KPIs agreed with the Head of
- Membership ensures appropriate progress is made across the year. These will include
- Retention target with low annual attrition
- Recruitment target growing membership base in key target areas
- Identifying opportunities for suitable upgrade of members to higher levels.
- Involvement with developing and distributing marketing activity to support commercial targets.
- Member recruitment calls, including clear articulation of member benefits and introductory demonstration of the data platform, Energy Pulse (training will be provided).

Required Qualifications
- Educated to Graduate Level or demonstrate equivalent professional development
