About the role

The marketing team communicates the value of RCN membership within the nursing community, using business intelligence, research, and local insights. The team aims to improve member recruitment and retention throughout the UK and to deliver new commercial products and services. The Marketing Executive for the student membership will work in the marketing team to help achieve objectives by developing and delivering activities exclusively to recruit and retain student members, who are the future of nursing

Responsibilities

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Support marketing plans developed by the Marketing Manager.
  • Manage the organic student social media content planner and support our Student Committee in developing their social media activity on RCN Student accounts.
  • With the Marketing Manager, coordinate social media influencer outreach programmes and evaluate campaign performance.
  • Monitor RCN's paid social media and make improvements to ensure marketing adverts are delivering a return on investment.
  • Collaborate with other Marketing Executives to write, edit, and distribute bulk emails using Dot Digital, and take the lead in producing and delivering the quarterly student enewsletter.
  • Edit website copy, write blog posts, and build new pages when needed using Sitecore.
  • Create content for third-party marketing and advertising projects and scope new opportunities to reach new audiences.
  • During peak student recruitment seasons (spring and autumn), you'll organise volunteers for freshers ' fairs across the UK, provide marketing materials to help recruit students at events, and organise events logistics with our Publications team, as well as evaluate performance.
  • Produce print marketing materials, including flyers and posters.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for colleagues to share with universities.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to develop and implement
  • Student Ambassador engagement activities.
  • Organise student incentives - maintain a directory and inventory of materials, ensuring all resources are current and accurate, and coordinate the creation of new materials as needed within budget.
  • Plan and manage meetings, events, and trade shows by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements, establishing contacts, developing schedules and assignments, and coordinating mailing lists.
  • Support the maintenance and development of internal tools, including databases.
  • Support the Marketing Manager in providing data analysis in support of marketing plans for student audiences.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • To code invoices to the appropriate financial codes included in the budget cost centre, project/resource, and account codes in compliance with the RCN’s Finance Policy.
  • Manage own financial responsibilities such as raising and receiving purchase orders.
  • Comply with the RCN Financial regulations and related policies to safeguard the assets of the RCN.

  • Comply with the RCN Data Protection Policy, Retention Schedule, and department procedures to ensure personal data is always protected.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested in line with the job role.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Essential:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the health and social care market.
  • Knowledge and understanding of providing marketing and administrative support to a team.
  • Experience in researching, planning, delivering, and evaluating marketing events.
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Experience in providing marketing support through advertising scheduling and delivery.
  • Experience in successfully managing projects with competing deadlines and proven ability to handle multiple workstreams.
  • Experience in creating promotional social media posts or managing social media accounts.
  • Experience of making a positive contribution to promoting and embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email platforms, Dot Digital, and Internet Content Management
  • Software (Sitecore) and diary software to an intermediate level.
  • Ability to set up and manage Social Media adverts.
  • Ability to set up and manage Social Media adverts.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to produce reports to evaluate the success of campaigns.
  • Excellent numeracy skills, including coordinating budgets.
  • Proactive with the ability to remain enthusiastic when faced with challenges.
  • Ability to manage competing demands whilst maintaining a calm, measured and professional service.
  • Excellent communication skills, in particular the ability to deliver clear and precise written correspondence and documentation.
  • Ability to travel, with occasional overnight stays as required, including attendance at the
  • RCN's annual week-long Congress

Desirable:

  • Experience in logistics planning and delivery to support member recruitment and corporate
  • Experience in creating printed promotional materials
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK education sector.
  • Diploma or recognised certificate in marketing.
  • Previous experience using Google Analytics at an intermediate level.
  • Previous experience supporting the development of live webinars.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing professional development.
