We fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments and brings us closer to a cure for MND. The Association also campaigns and raises awareness so that the needs of people with MND, as well as everyone who cares for them, are recognised and addressed by the wider society.

About the role

We are recruiting a Governance Co-ordinator to join our Governance Team at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. This is a key role providing essential company secretariat support to the Board of Trustees, Committees, the CEO Office, and the Head of Governance & Compliance. As Governance Co-ordinator, you will help to ensure the Association maintains the highest standards of governance through efficient administration, effective meeting support, and accurate record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Governance & Compliance in providing an efficient and effective approach to the administration of the Board and Committees, including managing a calendar of Board and
  • Committee meetings and preparing and distributing a timetable for meeting preparation in line with business and best practice.
  • Support the smooth running of the Board and Committees, including canvassing and confirming dates, venues, undertaking logistical arrangements, including travel and accommodation for meetings, and providing administration support as needed.
  • Responsible for providing end-to-end secretariat support to the Board and Committees, including Chair briefings, attending meetings, drafting minutes, and actions for approval by the
  • Chair. Liaising with meeting members and others at senior levels on all aspects of Board and Committee meetings.
  • Ensuring Board and Committee members receive papers in a timely manner, including preparing and collating, and ensuring the efficient distribution of papers, including proof-reading of documents and presentations for meetings.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Governance & Compliance on the planning and running of the Annual General Meeting and Trustee elections.
  • Support the Head of Governance & Compliance with the implementation of recommendations from effectiveness reviews, creating and reviewing standard templates, policies, and processes
  • as requested in order to improve the effectiveness of the governance of the Association.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate records on the Association through Companies House and the Charity Commission for England and Wales website.
  • Manage the Board of Trustees SharePoint page.
  • Undertake any other task relevant to the job purpose and ensure that all functions performed reflect the Association's mission and core values

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of Board/Committee administration, including minute taking and organisation of Board, Committee meetings
  • Experience of working with meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience in dealing with issues in a diplomatic and confidential manner
  • Demonstration of strong planning and organisational skills
  • Experience in building relationships at all levels within an organisation, using effective communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Proven experience of operating with considerable autonomy as well as part of a team, using a flexible and proactive approach
  • Relevant experience in using Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, MS Teams, and managing hybrid meetings
  • An awareness of the principles of good governance
