ABN is the professional body for neurologists in the United Kingdom. About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-organised Events Assistant to support the planning and delivery of ABN’s events programme. This varied and rewarding role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in events and stakeholder coordination within a national medical membership organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Events & Business Development Manager and wider ABN team.

This role supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of ABN events such as conferences, webinars, and training sessions, ensuring smooth logistics for both virtual and in-person activities. Key responsibilities include managing delegate and speaker administration, maintaining accurate event records, preparing event materials, and handling post-event feedback and reporting. The position also provides general administrative support, assists with website updates, sponsorship information, and CPD requirements, while ensuring accurate membership and event history records are maintained.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities of the Events Assistant:

  • Support the coordination and administration of ABN events, including conferences, webinars, and training sessions.
  • Provide on-site support during all face-to-face events, including the registration desk.
  • Provide support for virtual events as required.
  • Manage delegate registrations, confirmations, cancellations, and helpdesk enquiries.
  • Manage speaker invitations.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate event records, including registration databases and feedback reports.
  • Assist with preparation of event materials, including name badges, signage, session sheets, and speaker and chair packs.
  • Collate post-event evaluation and feedback forms and support reporting processes.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Events & Business Development function.
  • Work with the website officer to update event content on the ABN website for the Autumn meeting.
  • Support logistics for ABNT events.
  • Check membership records against event registrations.
  • Help collate and design the scoring form.
  • Maintain accurate event history records and provide the website officer with relevant updates for the website.
  • Help collate the required information for CPD.
  • Collate Sponsorship information and history in preparation for Industry meetings
  • Manage ABN Posters

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience (voluntary or paid) in an administrative, customer service, and events-related role.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator (written and verbal), with a polite and professional manner
  • Able to work independently, manage priorities, and respond calmly to deadlines
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Office Suite and online platforms ( Zoom, Teams, Eventbrite)
  • Willingness to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or travel within the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience using CRM systems, membership databases, or event registration software
  • Interest in health, science, or the medical charity sector
  • Experience supporting virtual or hybrid events

  • 28 days annual leave + 8 public holidays (pro-rata)
