Tim van der Rijken has over 20 years of experience in the field of trade and professional associations, both national and international. Currently, he has board positions at the Federation of Dutch pension funds and at the association for building maintenance and he is program leader of an intensive, post-academic course for association presidents. Furthermore, as an independent consultant and interim manager he supports many associations with strategy, governance and inter-organizational cooperation issues. From 2017 to 2020 Tim was secretary-general of the European federation for tyre retreading, which he combined with being CEO of the Dutch tyre industry association (2015-2020). The ten years before he worked for a leading Dutch consulting firm (Berenschot) and he started his career at the hairdressers association. In 2011 he received his PhD-degree, based on his academic research on association strategy and effectiveness. Tim lives in Amsterdam (NL) with his wife and daughter and loves to play tennis, golf and strategic board games.

Rodney Cox is the Events Director for the International Gas Union (IGU).  Founded in 1931 the IGU represents more than 90% of the global gas market through it National Association membership. Rodney has over 20 years’ event management experience, across five continents; this includes trade exhibitions, conferences and consumer shows – mostly on behalf of industry associations. He previously served as Vice President of the Exhibition and Event Association of Australia (EEAA) and twice headed the Best Show Team winners at the EEAA Awards of Excellence, for the 16th International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG 15 Algeria in 2010) and 26th World Gas Conference (WGC 2015 in France). For more than fifteen years Rodney has lectured at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Raisa steers the UK’s Association of Translation Companies, representing the voice of over 200 language service companies providing translation, interpreting and other language services to clients across the world.

As the ATC’s CEO, Raisa’s focus is on supporting a community of language service companies, collaborating with external stakeholders on best practice, policy and sustainable development of the language services industry. She is also the association’s Lead on Standards, driving adoption and certification to ISO standards.

Raisa is an experienced language services production, training and quality manager. She holds an MA in Translation & Interpreting from her native Finland.

Lisa has been building powerful networks and communities for over 25 years, ensuring the groups she works with thrive and grow. After a flourishing career working for a variety of associations, membership bodies and not for profit organisations, Lisa launched her own agency, Dovetail Creative Ltd, in 2021 and now supports a variety of organisations with all aspects of community, member and customer forum engagement, events, marketing strategy, and consultancy. Lisa is a frequent speaker and moderator at industry events and is on the board for RISE and Trade Association Forum. In addition, Lisa is involved in several mentoring programmes enabling her to pass on skills and knowledge to help others grow. Lisa has a passion for ESG initiatives and is co-producer of the Media Tech Sustainability Summit and Corporate Star Awards.

Dan is a commercial leader, consultant and coach, working in the association sphere. He has a strong background in membership organisations: At the National Association of Pension Funds, UK Finance, where he led on commercial activities, and was responsible for marketing the association to its members and beyond. He has had a career in magazine publishing, marketing consultancy, Publishing and New product and new market development. Dan held an interim role at a charity, Nacro, where he led Business Development and a significant organisational change programme.

Sasha has over twenty-five years' experience of creating conferences and summits, starting her career in the commercial conference industry. She is skilled at curating and shaping events – product development, market mapping, sponsor research, speakers and marketing. Sasha is Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, The Royal Society of Arts, a visiting lecturer in event management at The University of Westminster, London and judges industry awards.

I look after the leadership activities for the AAE. This involves chairing the Leaders Forums at the UK and the World Associations Congresses, as well the Leaders Summits and identifying other opportunities to support association leaders, for example new programmes and forums to bring Executive Heads together. 

I have been working on the AAE leaders events for eight years, contributed to the leadership aspects of all AAE's activities, and have an Executive Masters in International Association Management from Solvay Business School, Brussels.

Evelien has been interested and working in the area of effective meetings and use of technology since 2004. She is one of the most creative experts in the sector.

She has worked for a whole range of technology companies and for the longest with Abbit Meeting Innovators, where effective design of meetings with creative production and state-of-the-art reliable technology is their strength.

She works with associations and corporates across the whole of Europe and beyond to create high-quality events where delegates have a high-value experience.

She has a Masters in Communication Science from University of Antwerp.

Inbar Caspi is a strategist, associations consultant and congress expert. Her main specialty is leading associations through change. With more than 20 years of experience, working with over 60 associations and managing more than 170 association congresses, Inbar is a forward thinker who see future trends, translate them to action while hedging the risks and maximize potential. She is the former Managing Director of Kenes UK. For the past 7 years, Inbar has been supporting Medical Associations that organise their congress in-house or wish to take more ownership on their key activity while reaching their goals for growth, profit, education and building community. In this capacity, she has worked with and managed in-house the congresses of some of the largest associations in Europe such as the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), the European Pain Federation (EFIC), and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS).

Kevan Jones is the Executive Director of the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA). He’s spent the last decade working in the not-for-profit sector across Africa and the Middle East. Kevan holds a master’s degree from Regents University London School of Psychology and Psychotherapy. He also holds CAE designations from both the American and Canadian Societies of Association Executives, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Association Management in the UK.

John Scarrott is a Trainer and Coach working with association professionals on their approach to speaking, chairing meetings, presentations, communication and influence. John is a former Membership Director, with over 25-years’ experience of making presentations. He is the retained trainer in Public Speaking and Presentation Skills for the AAE and also for the Institute of Data & Marketing. John is a professionally qualified coach with a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) Credential from the International Coach Federation. He has spoken in the UK and internationally working with association professionals across Europe and in India and Australia.

Linda is passionate about associations and is particularly active in the professional associations in her own field.  She is also a consultant to a variety of associations. In 2008 she was considered one of Portugal’s five most influential people in the conference & events industry and received the education award from IAHMP. Respected internationally as a speaker she has lectured in countries such as Italy, Spain, Russia, Egypt, Cape Verde, United Kingdom, Dubai, Spain and The Netherlands. In 2009 she received the medal of honour for positive entrepreneurship in Portugal for her commitment to promoting culture and heritage and for CSR initiatives.

I’m responsible for the strategy and operational management of the Association of Association Executives, with all members of the team reporting to me. With the advice of members, Advisory Panel members, and the team, I decide what new products and services to offer, and how they should be fulfilled.

I have over 35 years experience in conferences and events, with 21 specifically supporting associations with their events, publishing, member engagement, and association management. I have headed up the AAE since its beginnings in 2006.
