Partner & Social Media Trainer , SocialB
Simon is the dedicated trainer for some of our largest partnerships at SocialB including the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and Oxford Bioscience Network (OBN).
Having worked with the RYA for over 5 years, Simon has had the opportunity to train at conferences as well as club level, tailoring his style and using his extensive associations knowledge. More recently, he has offered support for the RYA throughout lockdown by conducting tailored club audits, creating video content, and interacting with clubs through virtual training workshops & private Facebook groups.
From the sport sector to science, Simon has experience in a range of niche sectors and effectively adapts his training style to suit specific needs. Simon speaks every year at BioForward (one of OBN’s largest annual events) as well as delivering regular social media courses for Oxford Bioscience Network members and their wider community. The attendees range from medical device manufacturers through to pharmaceutical companies.
Simon’s recent training experience also includes delivering regular training for membership organisations such as Chartered Institute of Marketing & Norfolk Chamber of Commerce.
Before working with SocialB, Simon’s team pioneered social media within the YMCA, a federation of local and independent associations. As well as increasing brand recognition (monitored by the charity brand index) Simon also trained local YMCAs in the UK to get the best out of social media. This later evolved into training global YMCAs at multiple international events, sharing best practice for them to find their own voice within a global movement.
Simon’s professional social media journey began in 2006 at Sport England, through the implementation of a blog, sharing funding opportunities and best practice for regional sports associations. This blog resulted in a huge improvement in the organisation’s customer satisfaction, those customers being local and regional associations.

Sasha has over twenty-five years' experience of creating conferences and summits, starting her career in the commercial conference industry. She is skilled at curating and shaping events – product development, market mapping, sponsor research, speakers and marketing. Sasha is Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, The Royal Society of Arts, a visiting lecturer in event management at The University of Westminster, London and judges industry awards.
Trainer and Coach , John Scarrott Training and Coaching
John Scarrott is a Trainer and Coach working with Association professionals on their approach to speaking, chairing meetings, presentations, communication and influence. John is a former Membership Director, with over 25-years’ experience of making presentations. He is the retained trainer in Public Speaking and Presentation Skills for the AoAE and also for the Institute of Data & Marketing. John is a professionally qualified coach with an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) Credential from the International Coach Federation.
