Executive Director of the Year

This category recognises leadership, expertise and innovation at the most senior level.  The nominee should have obtained outstanding achievements while demonstrating the qualities of a true leader, a visionary, an innovator and with know-how in the sector. Nominees should illustrate excellence in leadership and innovation in their contribution to the organisation and the sector. This nomination is open to: Executive Directors, Secretaries General, Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers, All Executive Heads, where the nominee has held the position for at least two years.

Conference / Event executive of the Year; 

Membership / Community executive of the Year

Marketing & Communications executive of the Year 

Professional Development / Education executive of the Year

Publishing / Information executive of the Year

Association Executive of the Year (for other roles)

These six categories are for association employees or volunteer executives in the specific role, who has held their position for at least two years. The nominee should have attained success in their field of expertise and be a strategic manager who has made a substantial impact and/or brought substantial contribution to the association. 

CONFERENCES & EVENTS

Best Online Conference

This category is for either a NEW online conference or the substantial development of an EXISTING online conference. It is open to online conferences whether only online or as the online part of a hybrid conference. For hybrid conferences, you must restrict your submission content to the service provided online. The conference must have taken place in the last 14 months.  Conferences include congresses and conventions but not webinars or online training. Elements considered in judging may include but is not limited to: functionality created online, quality of user interface, well programmed content, promotion of exhibitors and sponsors, preparation for on-demand content provision. Measurable achievements include number of attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, revenue, education evaluations, net promoter score, etc. measured against stated goals and previous editions where applicable.

Best Physical Conference

This category is for either a NEW conference or the substantial development of an EXISTING conference.  Conference elements include the programme, exhibition, networking, the marketing campaign, technology, webcasting, the financial results.  Measurable achievements may include statistics such as growth of attendees or particular segment of attendees, growth in delegate, sponsor or exhibitor revenue, attendee engagement via the mobile app and on social media platforms, net promoter score, against stated goals and in comparison with the previous year’s statistics. 

Best Event (non-conference)

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING event that is not a conference, congress or convention (which have their own category) and has taken place in the last 14 months. It includes an exhibition, seminar series, awards, roadshow, careers show or other event that is not a conference, congress or convention. Measurable achievements include statistics such as number of attendees, exhibitors, sponsors; revenue, education evaluations, net promoter score, etc. measured against stated goals. 

Best Use of Event Technology

This category is for the use of an event technology to improve, enhance and add value to the experience of attendees or the management of an event that has taken place in the last 14 months. It may include but is not limited to: mobile apps, registration and management systems, webcasting & recording and other event technologies. Measurable achievements include statistics regarding downloads, usage, logins, engagement, shares on social media, measured against stated goals. 

MEMBERSHIP & COMMUNITY

Best Member Support during Covid19

This category is for an association’s initiative to support its members during the Covid19 crisis. Elements considered in judging may include but is not limited to: toolkits and packs, micro-sites, guides, training initiatives, digital publications, and any other online and offline material and tools.  Measurable achievements include statistics such as member engagement, feedback surveys, purchases, subscriptions, referrals, shares etc. including how they measured against stated goals.  This category is not open to member recruitment or engagement initiatives, which have their own category. 

Best Member Recruitment Initiative

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING member recruitment initiative, either for all member types or a specific group / demographic, predominantly developed and implemented in the last 14 months. Elements may include print and digital promotion pieces, campaigns of communications, special packages, special pricing and offers, and other communications and promotion. Measurable achievements include statistics such as membership growth, number of new members, new members of a certain demographic, revenue resulted from new members, etc measured against stated goals. 

Best Member On-boarding Programme

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING on-boarding programme for members as individuals or employees of organisation members, primarily developed and implemented in the last 14 months. Elements may include member packs, phone activity, events, email campaigns, website initiatives, and any other online and offline material and engagement tools addressed to new members.  Measurable achievements include statistics such as member engagement, feedback surveys, purchases, subscriptions, retention, referrals etc. measured against stated goals.  This category is not open to social media campaigns and member recruitment or engagement initiatives, which have their own category. 

Best Membership Engagement

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING member engagement campaign or a distinct member engagement project, primarily developed and implemented in the last 14 months. This may include online discussion forums, online and offline materials, micro-sites, blogs, online and offline material, social media, apps and any other means or platform for reaching and engaging members.  Measurable achievements include statistics such as increase in readership, responses, event attendance, media viewings, online traffic, subscriptions, open rates, phone calls to the organisation, forms completed, etc. measured against stated goals.

Best Volunteer Initiative

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING initiative involving or for (non-board member) volunteers, primarily developed and implemented in the last 14 months. It includes member support, special projects, social media, blogs, online discussion forums and other activities.  Measurable achievements may include statistics such as participation in the organisation’s programmes, level of participation, time dedicated, engagement scores, referral rate, measured against stated goals. 

Best Online Community

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING online community that has been developed or launched in the last 24 months. Elements considered in judging may include but is not limited to: selection of the platform, set up, design and user interface, ease of use, functionality adopted, member on-boarding, volunteer involvement, management, content planning, engagement activities, and integration into the current website / membership systems. Measurable achievements include statistics such as growth in subscriptions or usage, number of users as % of membership / community size, average length of time in the community, recommendation & promotion by users, and any other data related to the engagement on the platform.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Best Professional Development Offering

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING professional development offering, developed, or launched in the last 14 months. It includes certificate programmes, training or other professional development activity, that is not an online or digital product as this has its own category. Measurable achievements include statistics such as number of participants or users, take-up %, revenue from sales, education levels and scores, etc. measured against stated goals.

Best eLearning / Online Education

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING educational online offering, developed or launched in the last 14 months. Measurable achievements include statistics such as number of users or subscribers, login frequency / number of sessions, session duration, engagement, revenue from sales, referrals, etc. measured against stated goals.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Effective Voice of the Year

This category recognises the advancement of a cause or a sector with a campaign primarily planned and implemented in the last 14 months.  This could include lobbying for legislation change, a publicity campaign, an industry / sector day and any other types of campaign excluding social media campaigns and member recruitment or engagement initiatives, which have their own category.  Campaign elements include communications to lawmakers, press releases, press releases, campaign specific micro-sites, blogs and web pages, any platforms, tools, printed materials, and activities for raising awareness and engagement and for achieving the goals and objectives of the campaign. Measurable achievements include evidence of legislative action / support / change, quantity, quality and reach of media coverage, statistics for online and offline engagement, impressions, page views, shares, mentions and any data related to the advancement of a cause or sector, measured against stated goals.

Best Association E-Newsletter

This category is for a NEW or substantially developed EXISTING e-newsletter that has been substantially developed or launched in the last 14 months. Measurable achievements include statistics such as increased open rates, increased click-throughs, comments, and replies, shared, social media reach / impressions, and increased call to actions, measured against stated goals. 

Best Social Media Campaign

This category recognises a successfully planned and implemented distinct social media campaign primarily planned and implemented in the last 14 months. The campaign may include social media platforms, campaign specific web pages, micro-sites or blogs and any social media tools and platforms used for engagement, raising awareness or for achieving the goals and objectives of the campaign.  Measurable achievements include statistics such as mentions, retweets, shares, likes, reach, impressions, page views, comments, calls to action, purchases, sales volumes, subscriptions and any other data related to increased awareness of an issue or take up of a service, event or product, measured against stated goals.  This category is not open to member recruitment or member engagement campaigns, which have their own categories. 

Best Association Video

This category recognises a video, video series or video channel, primarily produced or released / launched in the last 14 months.  It is not for educational videos as these have their own category, or for event recordings. Measurable achievements include statistics such as viewer analytics, response levels to videos, social media shares and reach, as well as the production and quality of video, measured against stated goals.  

DIGITAL

Best Digital Transformation

This category is for the digital transformation of an association’s systems and services, substantially developed or launched in the last 24 months.  Elements considered in judging may include but are not limited to:  Website re-think; Moving services to online; Re-think of how the services are delivered; Adoption of innovative technologies; Complete integration of all systems; Highly functional and pleasing User Interfaces; Ease of use by members / community; Creating new services / functions in the transformation; Uplifting the performance of digital media e.g. integrating media sources, improving ROI. Measurable achievements include statistics such as: site analytics, logins, users returning, number and length of sessions, user interactions, responses to a call to action, user experience evaluations, personalisation, optimisation, measured against stated goals. This category is not open to association mobile apps or automatic member on-boarding, which have their own categories.

Best Association Mobile App

This category is for the NEW adoption or substantial development of an EXISTING use of an association mobile app launched in the last 24 months. It is not open to Event apps, which have the category of Best Use of Event Technology. It includes features such as News, Resources, Jobs Vacancies, Events listings, Member discussion, member profile and location, member directory with search functionality, messaging service, personalisation and other digital services and products, contact, options to easy share on social media. The app should be integrated with the main website, CMS and/org CRM/AMS system. Measurable achievements include adoption rates by members, logins, engagement, usage, response to push notifications, signups to newsletters and new services and products, shares on social media, measured against stated goals.

Individual Member Association of the Year

This category is for individual membership organisations or chapters, including professional bodies, for its successful achievements in the last 14 months. Measurable achievements include and are not limited to notable and successful projects such as events, campaigns and development of services and products; income generation; membership growth, retention, engagement and satisfaction; leadership within the association; contribution to the advancement and success of the organisation and sector.

Business Member Association of the Year

This category is for an association with organisations as members (including trade associations), for its successful achievements in the last 14 months. Measurable achievements include and are not limited to notable and successful projects such as events, campaigns and development of services and products; income generation; membership growth, retention, engagement and satisfaction; leadership within the association; contribution to the advancement and success of the organisation and sector.
